Councilmember Dr. Carolyn Evans-Shabazz has dedicated resources to help combat the issue of illegal dumping across our District. The District D Hot Team consists of (4) men, (2) trucks, and two trailers. Our goal is to provide abatement of the dumping sites within 24-48 hours after receiving a constituent report.

 

Individual citizens are asked to report the dump site to 311, get a Service Request #, and then share that SR# with the District D Office.

The team’s primary illegal dumping materials are mattresses, bed frames, tables, chairs, nightstands, cabinets, dressers, sofas, and small items like kids’ toys, strollers, etc. Under appliances, they collect TVs, stoves, refrigerators, microwave ovens, etc. The team does not collect tree waste. 

 

On Mondays, the Hot Team is dedicated to car-tire pickup and returning those tires to the COH Solid Waste Idle-bird Southeast Service Center off Lawndale. Also, we support our community weekend clean-up projects. When contacted by our local civic clubs, our Hot Team is scheduled to stop by the clean-up location on Monday to pick up trash bags and take them to the depositories.
